This product more than likely works fine for taxes, which is why I give it 2 stars rather than 1. But this is the second year in a row they sent me something that is NOT what’s advertised on the page! Look at the chart that compares the AT HOME versions: Basic, Deluxe, and Premium. Then look down the Deluxe column (this version) to where it says “One state program downloaded included” – it’s checked, right? Which means a state program download should be included, right? WRONG! The product packaging has the same chart, almost, the state program download is – surprisingly enough – NOT checked! Last year they advertised compatibility with my OS, then made me upgrade to an incompatible product. Is H&R block physically incapable of advertising the the product they actually provide? BOOx2!

The new H&R Block AT HOME program is easy to use. Anyone who does not have genuine difficult tax problems should consider this as an optimum tax program.

I have used Taxcut for years and always found it simple and glitch free. This year is a different story. Every time I open the program, there are updates…I download them but they cannot be installed, error code 1152. When I called tech support, they had never heard of this error code, despite the fact I found 3 other references to it by doing an internet search. When I try to uninstall the software, I get a “patch package” error. The software will also not remove my home office. I did finally it manually, but it is still showing up when I get to Deductions. No one in tech support has answers. I called my computer guy to come over and he says it’s the H&R Block software that is causing the problems. My only option is to try tech support again and hope they have some answers or have developed a patch…frustrating! DO NOT BUY!!!!

I have used the Taxcut software for several years. It handles all the regular stuff and is really helpful for the wierd cases of AMT, stock options, etc. Each year is easier because of the previous year being imported. I have friends that also use it.
